Raymond Sawaya, MD

Dr. Raymond Sawaya is Emeritus Professor of Neurosurgery and was the Founding Chairman of the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. He is a founding figure of the specialty of neurosurgical oncology and a world authority in cancer care, with accolades from the American Cancer Society, American Association of Neurological Surgeons, and more.
 
Dr. Sawaya has helped treat distinguished leaders such as former Senator Ted Kennedy and former Attorney General Beau Biden. He is an internationally recognized pioneer in cancer research and renowned clinical trialist with over 380 scientific publications and over 27,000 citations.
 
Dr. Sawaya has been recognized by his peers with numerous accolades for his contributions to advancing cancer care, including being invited as Honored Guest of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the creation of the Raymond Sawaya Award by the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the inception of the Raymond Sawaya Distinguished University Chair in Neurosurgery at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
